Latest Updates from Our Project:

The Threats are Looming!
over 2 years ago – Sat, Aug 14, 2021 at 08:45:07 PM

Here's a peek at the new Threat Deck for Dirtside.

Threat Deck

It is a deck of 9 cards that you can use to randomize threats and also to randomly select random boards.

The pdf link is here:

In other news, LongPack is making the miniatures. Things are moving along and rounding into shape.

Character Cards are getting finalized.
over 2 years ago – Tue, Aug 03, 2021 at 04:40:12 AM

David is working on the character cards. I'd like to get feedback on them. It is entirely possible that there is a silicoid with infinite hit points hiding in there somewhere. I'm still waiting on some character art but the numbers could use a looking at.

Click below to look at the character cards.

Psionic Whaloid
Sympathetic ability
Driver
Ursinoid with placeholder art

As you can see, the new cards match the old cards in look. We added the psionics skill to characters that have psionics. It's taken me 20 years to come around to accepting psionics as part of the mainstream of Battlestations.

New Art Director and Final files for miniatures at LongPack
almost 3 years ago – Sun, Jun 13, 2021 at 10:51:12 PM

This is yet another terrible update.  I'm sorry but at least I'm posting this update.

In the last updated I said I'd be posting soon and none of the stuff I was going to post about came to light so I hate to say, "I don't have more."

Well, I do have more but not much.

All the miniature files are at LongPack and I've given them the go ahead. I want to get a date from them but I'll keep hounding them.

Dan Blanchett has done a terrific job with the art direction for all of the modern Battlestations stuff. He's busy working on his own stuff and has helped me find a new art director, David Richards. David is ready to just finish off the files (making sure they line up with the die lines, etc.) so there will be no more dilly dallying.

I keep hearing that bad updates are better than no updates.

I'm pretty sure getting the product will be better than updates.

I also know that taking a few minutes to post an update doesn't slow the process of getting the game done. Thank you to all of you for helping to remind me that I need to stay on task in communications as well as production.

May Update
almost 3 years ago – Tue, May 11, 2021 at 12:25:29 PM

This is the May update.

I wanted to delay it until I had a firm date from my printer but I'd rather say, "I'm not yet announcing the date" than wait and have people wonder if I fell off the edge of the galaxy.

This isn't really the update for all of May. I'll have more updates.

This is taking a long time but I am staying in touch.
about 3 years ago – Thu, Apr 08, 2021 at 01:58:23 AM

I want you all to know that I'm on this. The delays are getting harder for me to bear as well. I feel the need to get this out there and I'm working on it.

I've got files off to LongPack and I'm getting more help with the graphic design stuff.

Please feel free to email, post, or message me your frustrations. I'm  on your side. Much of the delay over the last year has been my dithering about getting the rules "just right" and now I've turned the corner on this and I've decided the rules are "just right" enough. I'm focused now on getting it done.

Add this to the list of lame updates but it is earnest.

On a side note, being the focus of this project can be daunting and the encouragement I get from you guys is greatly appreciated. I can and will get this done and get it done well regardless of whether I get kind words or some well-deserved disgruntlement but I appreciate them both.
